Like you I am not comfortable at all in front of a camera, but I think everyone in broadcasting should be forced to do it at least once, just so they get an appreciation of how hard it is to look natural while reading a prompter, having someone yap in your ear, watch for time cues etc etc… I know you have lots of pro lighting, sound and camera gear at your disposal, and apparently elected not to use them. I like the “home made” look you were going for, but I think you could have kicked it up a notch by using a bug mike and/or picked a room that was a little less “live”. May I also suggest that you add just enough lighting so it does not look artificial, but allows you to separate you from the background and model your face a bit. IMHO part of your business is video production, so you should treat every picture and video clip you do like it’s part of your sample reel. David Carroll September 11, 2009 Reply As for the book review itself: I am not a big fan of “self help” people/books in general. I don’t need books to tell me to get off my butt and become a big success. I think that is kind of self-evident. I do however appreciate short snappy practical advice on how to get somewhere or do something that is evidence based, empirical, and from a source that has used their own advice to great advantage. So I will by this book ’cause Sue told me to! He is the real deal, he works his ass off every single day and shares everything. You are an inspiration to me, Suze. I know you, you are my friend, you are my colleague, you’re passion for people and learning and sharing is inexhaustible. Keep it up! @knealemann [rq=594893,0,blog][/rq]9/11: Where Were You?
