Wow great post, and I completely agree. Especially with this:
"As much as I love connecting to people online, my goal is always, someday, to meet my online friends and colleagues in-person."

I have said that so many times, in fact possibly word for word last week at South by Southwest.... I was telling someone that while I loved to go and meet new people there (and I definitely do) or see old friends, the real exciting moment is when I meet someone I already know for the first time. Can't beat it!

Sue- I'd love to grab a beer with you sometime: I always read your blog in awe of how much I agree with what you say (especially on community). That and I definitely think I can learn a lot from you too. Unfortunately when we see each other we don't usually get to chat much!

Hi Suze,
when i read your post i felt "Damn, in 3 months there I wasn't able to attend a #FridayOffice " I felt so stupit, now.
I agree 100% about the need and the meaning to meet face-to-face your online friends. It's really a different way to communicate. Meeting gives also a new feeling to the online discussion.

Here in Rome, last Saturday happened a event of this kind. Almost 40 foodbloggers from all over Italy (mainly Turin, Milan, Bologna, Florence and Rome) met in Rome. The aim was to visit the Gourmet side of Rome. It was a perfet day: sun, fun, food, friends, smiles...And now a flow of online post. Just go to Google and search for : Foodies in Rome gives a lot of results. In my blog a series of post is coming (too many pics, friends, details to tell).
The idea started from a tweet of Juls in Kitchen (http://it.julskitchen.com/life/foodies-in-rome-the-day-after)

From the face-to-face meeting an online forum was created and it created even new ideas (the foodblogger meeting in London, the possibility to promote our actual or future effords as chef at home etc.).

So, as you conclude, What are you waiting for?

I'm glad that you've been getting so much out of #FridayOffice - it's been a blast to be part of something so much fun, and happy that someone else gets it.

Suze, that is some pretty illustrious company to be listed in, and an honor to be your friend. We will meet in person, one of these days. And I agree: in person connections completely change our online friendships.

Networking in person, co working, Jelly: take advantage of what's available to you! If there isn't something cool, start it yourself!
