Notwithstanding the people component (which is immensely important — particularly having the right people), perhaps the most important thing about OttawaTonite.com is that it solves a problem. I’ve seen far too many online destinations created without a thought to a problem, solution or value. Invariably it’s those people the ask why there’s no community for their site.

People, passion and participation is what makes a community website. The tools are just the enabler. A website without those three Ps is just a website. Bringing passionate people together and doing something real is what equals a community, IMHO.

Thanks for sharing this story of how ottawatonite.com was born. Sounds like the team is onto something wonderful and helping to make Ottawa a better place.
