Love this post! I have been feeling a bit stale myself these days with regard to Twitter and the blogs I read--you are so right about how easy it is to get into a rut and have the same conversations over and over again.

Something else I recommend to bloggers whose blogs center around a certain topic: start a new one, totally off-topic. My experience was actually the opposite of this--my original blog was totally random, no central theme. Not that you can't veer off topic on a specifically-themed blog, but I personally find it more fun to have a fun blog and a more serious blog and keep them separate. Everyone should have a blog where they can freely use the F word without having to sully their professional reputations ; )

Great ideas, Suze - I think we're all guilty of staying in our comfort zones too much.

I've deliberately started looking for people outside my niche - not only does it keep my mind active, everyone has something interesting to say that can have so many meanings and uses.

My tip for Twitter - never ignore "newbies" - we were all there once and look how many people helped us. We should return the favour in spades.
